Ten Canoes is a film made in 2006 featuring Australian aboriginal actors. It's a charming and affecting folk-tale on unrequited love and the strictures of societal hierarchy. Richard Birrinbirrin was producer of the movie as well as starring in it. He plays a village elder grown fat and lazy. He's largely there for comedic value as he demands constantly that the youngsters fetch him honey from the nearby forest - rather like a real-life Winnie the Pooh.
